Purpose and Background

 The AI Grand ICT Research Center was established in July 2020 after being selected for the "Grand ICT Research Center", a competitive grant program by the Ministry of Science and ICT. Supported by a total budget of KRW 18.75 billion through 2027—comprising KRW 15 billion from the national government, KRW 1.5 billion from the city of Busan, and KRW 2.25 billion from Dong-eui University—the center aims to foster strategic industries and secure new growth engines for the Busan region. This mission is achieved by developing "AI-based intelligent innovation convergence technology" and cultivating "professional talent", both tailored to the industrial demands of the Southeast region.

Our research center aims to foster strategic industries and secure new growth engines in the Southeast region through the development of AI-based intelligent innovation convergence technology and the training of AI professionals, based on the industrial demands of the Southeast region. Specifically, our goal is to produce over 160 industry-ready AI specialists during the project's eight-year span. By fostering deep integration between AI technology, the ICT sector, and other core industries, we aim to facilitate the creation of high-value products and services, thereby securing a globally competitive advantage for the region's technology and industry.
